It is an honor to be a part of this fundraising event. We began our music career in Guatemala at the tender age of seven and eight. We spent most of our time playing in the music conservatory of Guatemala, rehearsing and performing.

We came to the United States twelve years ago and found ourselves in the cold weather of Rockford, Illinois. After a stint of internships at NIU we moved to Denver, Colorado to continue our music career.

We have participated in various permutations of musical outfits including orchestras, chamber music groups, and string quartets that have given us the opportunity to play all over the world. We also supported ourselves by completing alternative licensure programs to teach music in the public schools of Colorado. We pride ourselves on being bilingual educators.

We chose Oblivion by Astor Piazolla and Schindler’s List by John Williams in order to showcase the diversity found in the music we have come to know and love in all of our years playing beautiful pieces.

Music has kept us motivated in this time of crisis. We truly enjoy playing for you.

Sincerely,

Wendy and Lubia Montenegro
