Jesus In The Desert

"Jesus In The Desert" by Rosanna Nunez

Watercolor and ink painting

Unframed: 11" x 14"

Artist Statement: This is a painting titled "Jesus In The Desert." It depicts the plight of the immigrant, the caged children, and God's grace. I chose this theme because it hits close to home. My father's side of the family is from Mexico. They have not suffered any hardship by coming to America, but it doesn't excuse the treatment the immigrants are having to endure.

I am Mexican American and love to paint. I started drawing at a young age and pursued a career in art. After starting at the Colorado institute of art as a teenager, I had to drop out as my mother became very ill. I never took up art again. I joined the Navy and became a nurse. I have worked as a nurse for 30 years. It wasn't until last year that I semi-retired at 57, that I took up painting again.
