Bordados Triptych

Bordados Triptych submitted by Valarie James on behalf of Artisans Beyond Borders

Embroidered manta cloth

Framed: 15" x 16" each

Statement by Valarie James, founder of Artisans Beyond Borders: These are the three Bordados (Mantas) that Artisans Beyond Borders are submitting. Each is a one-of-a-kind original design embroidered by 3 different asylum-seekers (their names and countries of origin are attached), on traditional Mexican manta cloth, the natural artisanal cotton grown, spun, and woven in southern Mexico since Aztec times. Each are approx: 15" x 16"

I love this combination of mantas. The colors and the inscriptions the artisans chose are so hopeful and inspirational despite the fact they are created in the middle of migration in the most difficult circumstances imaginable.
